If you are reading this article, you probably suffer from oily hair, for which you take a lot of care in your every day life.

The oily hair or oily scalp looks pretty ugly and could sometimes smell disgusting.

Why is it like that?

Sometimes the problem can be temporary – hormonal problem that can come with the puberty and after the puberty, it may be from the thyroid gland, pregnancy, and occasionally it is provoked by the menopause.

But it could also be caused by you – from the wrong hair products you use and the improper way you treat your hair.

Remember – you on your own create a vicious circle with the frequent washing of the oily hair. Forget about that.

The more you wash your hair, the more sebum is produced.

The best way to break the cycle of the production of sebum is to skip a washing of the hair.

Start slowly. One day per week skip the washing with shampoo. After that try with two days a week without washing. In the ideal case, you should have 2-3 days between the washing of your hair in order to reduce the oiliness.

You can also experiment with dry shampoos.

You actually should choose a shampoo and conditioner that will balance the moisture of the head. A light moisturizing shampoo and conditioner will be very good for dealing with the greasy hair.

Here are some tips:

  1. Learn to properly wash the oily hair. You should rinse your hair for at least 30 seconds. Sometimes the greasy hair is actually unwashed shampoo or conditioner that is not rinsed well.

  1. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water after shampooing. The hot water stimulates the glands that produce sebum, and the cold water helps them to close.

  1. The same thing applies to the hair dryers. Whenever possible, do not use a hairdryer, but only a towel.

  1. Stop touching your hair with your hands – thus you secondarily make it even greasier.

  1. Reduce the use of styling products – from them the hair looks even worse. When forming your hair which is oily, use hair products with moisturizing properties.
